Clean the charging points:
Irrespective of your usage frequency, the USB connection points will get stuffed and covered with dirt. This prevents a good connection between the two parts. Consider these things while performing the cleaning process:
- Clean the contact points with a cotton swab and alcohol. Now a residue will be formed. Rub it off with something with should not damage the device.
- Check the contact points. If they are not shiny, then dip the swap in cotton again and rub it vigorously to shrug the dirt off.

Connecting tracker to charging cable:
This procedure depends on the removal feature.
- Flex & One –Connect the tracker to a charging cable. You will see gold contacts on both the charging slot of the tracker and the charging cable. Bring both the ends together. Insert the cable in the charging slot and push it gently. You will hear a click. The cable is now connected.
- Others –You will see a charging port on the backside of your tracker. Connect the smaller part of your cable to it.
Plugging the charging cable in:
You are free to plug the cable anywhere. You can plug it in the computer, a USB wall-charger or a DC-to-USB adapter.
Note: Syncing and charging cables are two different things. You cannot sync your tracker data into your computer with the help of charging cable.
Check the battery level:
There are different battery level indicator in different trackers.
- Flex –The indicator lights up during the process of charging. Each light presents a step forward to the charge completion. When all 5 lights illuminate, this means that the tracker is fully charged.
- One – This indicator takes 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete the charge. The indicator turns on immediately after your cable is plugged in. You can check the progress of charging by pushing a single button on your tracker.
- Others –A battery icon will show up, telling the charge progress.
- Remove the cable after the completion of charging:
The removable trackers need to be inserted back to their initial form.
- Flex – Put the tracker back in the wristband. Make sure that you put it back in the right way. You will hear a click once the insertion is done.
- One – Insert it in the clip just like you insert the Flex in the wristband.
- Others – No insertion needed. Remove the cable and start using it.
Using a replaceable battery:
This method can be used as a last resort only. Only a few Fitbit devices support this procedure, including Fitbit Zip.
Monitoring the battery life:
The indicator on the Fitbit device lights up when the percentage hits the 25% mark. You can occasionally monitor the battery life on the dashboard.
There are several things to remember:
- The battery will die soon if the indicator is flashing.
- Always sync your Fitbit data before changing the battery. Removing the battery erases the data from your device. Syncing is the way to go.
- The syncing can be done with the help of either a USB dongle or the Fitbit mobile app.
- Buy a replaceable battery:

Opening the back of device:
Open the back of your Fitbit Zip device with a tool for this specified purpose or a coin. Insert the coin and rotate it to open the back of the device.
Replace the battery:

Close the back:
Close the back of your Fitbit device with the help of a coin. Rotate the back in the same manner.
